Helping Build a Sustainable World - From Indonesia to Hong Kong, Young Engineer Finds Her Calling

Cindy Aiko Filbert TANAKA, an Indonesian graduate in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from HKUST, is making strides in sustainability as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte. Her passion for sustainability began in her first year of university, driven by her strong background in math and science. Supported by her family, she chose to study in Hong Kong for its educational opportunities and vibrant community.

Cindy actively participated in various extracurricular activities and clubs, particularly focusing on empowering women in science and engineering. She credits her university experiences and mentors, especially Professor Frank LAM, for shaping her skills in problem-solving and communication.

After graduation, Cindy chose to stay in Hong Kong, where she believes there are ample opportunities for young professionals. She aims to continue making a positive impact in sustainability and values the analytical skills and curiosity she developed at HKUST.
