CBE connects with alumni and industry partners
On March 28, 2025, nearly 100 participants, including industry partners, faculty, alumni, and students, gathered to discuss “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Energy, Materials, and Environment.”
Prof. George YUAN, Associate Dean of Engineering (Strategic Planning and Development), welcomed attendees, emphasizing the need for collaboration with industry, while Prof. Minhua SHAO, CBE Department Head, introduced the CBE department’s faculty, research, and educational initiatives. Distinguished speakers included Dr. Jiadong GONG from CATL and Mr. Eddie LEE from the HKSAR Government, who shared insights on sustainable solutions and air quality management.
A fireside chat, moderated by Prof. Shao, featured industry leaders discussing advancements in technology and sustainability. The program concluded with a research showcase highlighting projects like sugar-free craft beer, solar-driven technologies, and advanced batteries, fostering networking opportunities among attendees. Earlier, lab visits to the Food Technology Lab and the CIAC-HKUST Joint Laboratory for Hydrogen Energy allowed guests to explore the latest CBE research. This event aimed to strengthen ties between academia and industry while promoting innovative research and collaboration.
