Prof. Jiguang WANG will be promoted from Associate Professor to Professor in our department, effective July 1, 2026.

This promotion is a testament to Prof. Wang's outstanding contributions to our department and to HKUST. Over the years, he has demonstrated exceptional dedication and excellence in research and service, significantly advancing our academic mission. Prof. Wang's pioneering research, which seamlessly marries mathematics, big data, and artificial intelligence with biology to find cures for rare brain cancers, has been highly recognized globally. His remarkable breakthroughs, including the uncovering of new tumor subtypes and the development of AI frameworks for precise identification—work recognized as one of China's Top 10 Life Science Advances—have cemented his status as a leading scientist. We are incredibly proud of his extensive list of accolades, including his Named Professorship, election to the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, the Zhong Nanshan Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, and his recent success in securing the 2024/25 RGC CRF Collaborative Research Project Grant.
