HKUST Information Day to Launch Five New Undergraduate Programs, Including Energy and Environmental Engineering and a New Dual-Track Admission System for Engineering
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has announced five new undergraduate programs for the 2025/26 academic year, ahead of its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions this Saturday. One of the new programs is Energy and Environmental Engineering, which focuses on sustainable and renewable energy, as well as raw material transformation. Graduates can work as engineers in related fields or in environmental consultancy.
Additionally, the School of Engineering (SENG) will introduce a dual-track admission system. This will offer students two entry options: school-based and department-based. In the school-based pathway, students can select their engineering major in the first semester, with admission to the department based on their entrance credentials. They can also add an extended major in AI to their engineering major.
The department-based entry allows direct admission to six departments, including Chemical and Biological Engineering. This new framework is designed to provide clear academic pathways for students with specific goals, guiding their studies effectively.
