CBE Party 2026: A Spectacular Celebration of Talent and Success

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) ushered in the Year of the Horse with its annual celebration, the CBE Party 2026. The event was a resounding success, bringing together a vibrant mix of over 200 professors, students, and alumni from diverse academic and professional backgrounds to celebrate a fruitful 2025.

This year's party was a testament to the incredible and multifaceted talents within the CBE family. The evening was filled with an energetic atmosphere, featuring a spectacular lineup of 10 performances. The program ranged from an engaging computer game and several rounds of a lucky draw with attractive prizes like Smart Glasses and Game Consoles, to a rich variety of artistic expressions. The audience was captivated by beautiful Violin and Piano performances, a soulful solo song, a harmonious Instrumental Ensemble, a skillful Kendama demonstration, a traditional Guzheng performance, and a classic English choir.

A standout moment of the night was the electrifying Hip Hop performance by Joki YOSHIDA, a CBE undergraduate student. Joki, who has been dancing since he was four, is a five-time Hong Kong champion and represented Hong Kong at the Dance World Cup Finals in Spain, placing 1st in Asia and 10th Worldwide. He will be representing Hong Kong again this year at the prestigious World of Dance in Los Angeles. His dynamic performance was a highlight of the celebration.

The evening was also marked by a surprise program where Prof. Minhua SHAO, Head of the department, delighted the audience with a stand-up talk show and a traditional Chinese drama, showcasing a different side of his talents. The night concluded on a high note with a powerful Band Performance, bringing together both professors and students on one stage.
