Teaching old drugs new tricks with innovative delivery methods

A range of age-related eye conditions can be tackled with anti-VEGF drugs, which reduce blood vessel formation in the eye – but these drugs remain prohibitively expensive. Prof. Ying CHAU’s lab at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is developing a gel that can reduce the frequency with which the drugs have to be injected, promising to make them more affordable and accessible.
