Ms. Yao Yao (supervised by Prof. Minhua Shao) has been awarded the 'PLY Best PG Award' and Md Delowar Hossain (supervised by Prof. Zhengtang LUO) has been awarded the 'Chan Tak Kei & Wong Kwai Ying Best PG Award for Excellent Research

Another year of excellence has been marked by having two distinguished recipients of the 2020 Best Postgraduate Excellent Research Awards. It is with great pride to announce that Ms. Yao Yao (supervised by Prof. Minhua Shao) has been awarded for “PLY Best PG Award” and Md Delowar Hossain (supervised by Prof. Tom Luo) has achieved “Chan Tak Kei & Wong Kwai Ying Best PG Award for Excellent Research.”

Our recipients uphold the awards’ prestigious standard as exceptional contributions have been made not only to the school and industry but to our society as a whole. This can be seen through both awardees’ research recognition.

• Ms. Yao Yao’s innovation and improvement in understanding the reaction mechanisms of nitrogen reduction reaction generating ammonia have led to the recognition by internationally recognized journals with publication of 14 papers (7 as the first author) and by more than 300 citations.

• In equal significance, Md Delowar Hossain has developed a constant potential grand canonical kinetics methodology, which is believed to open a new era for guiding electrochemistry future’s development. He has also won the Overseas Research Award from California Institute of Technology, and represented HKUST in the UK’s 2020 Hult Prize Regional Final Summit.
