CBE Student Malvin Subroto triumphed with First Prize at the 11th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
Under the guidance of Professor King Lun YEUNG, Malvin Subroto PAMUDJI (CBE) and Steven Ka Kit CHENG (ENVR) have been awarded First Prize in the Entrepreneurship Track (Start-up category) at the 11th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Their innovative project, “Low Carbon Lifestyle with Silica Capsule Technology,” redefines the delivery of active ingredients in hygiene products for both humans and pets. This initiative aims to enhance product effectiveness while significantly reducing environmental impact. The awards ceremony, held on May 31, 2025, attracted a record-breaking 2,033 participants representing 687 projects, highlighting the competition's growing prominence and the exceptional quality of submissions this year.
Following their success, Steven and Malvin have been invited to compete in the China International University Innovation Competition 2025 this October. They previously secured the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the World Invention Singapore 2025, proudly representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Their team has received widespread recognition across sustainability-focused platforms in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and internationally. They have earned accolades at prestigious events, including the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions in Switzerland, the Asia Universities Alliance in Indonesia, WeStart Shanghai 2024, and the Rosewood Foundation Award.
